Some photos from our 2-week trip to Japan in late July this year. Haven’t had a break for a while so was extra excited to be going. This was our first trip to Japan and it left a good first impression – getting around was so easy (train and bus systems were super efficient and people were generally very helpful), food was great (cheaper than what I was expecting), and lots of interesting places to see.
I was surprised to find autumn hues in mid-summer.
Tokyo subway.
Maiko at Kyoto Station.
Shibuya, Tokyo – one of the world’s busiest intersections.
Floating Garden Observatory, Osaka.
We cycled through this bamboo grove. Beautiful.
My second night dinner – Japanese fast food. We had octopus dumplings (“takoyaki”) on the first night. All nice.
Bento boxes were available everywhere – had quite a few of these for lunch.
Hey Sooti,
Great photos! Were some of these HDR photos?
Hi CC, Thanks! No, none of these were HDRs, but would love to start playing with that as well when I have some spare time.
Hi! I was surfing and found your blog post… nice! I love your blog. 🙂 Cheers! Sandra. R.
Yeah, I thought the one of the busy shubiya intersection was one! Clem
Sandra: Thanks!
Clem: Yeah, don’t blame you for thinking that! It does look like a HDR!
Hi Sooti,
LOVELY PHOTOS! I’m sure you did have a great time…we sure wish we could have taken photos as lovely as these when we visted Japan. =)
Many thanks Mish! Yep, Japan was lovely.
Just amazing. It’s hard to pick my favourite. The Shibuya station shot has such amazing colours. What time of the day was that? And the sky in the Tenryu-ji shot is so dramatic!
Thanks Tom! I can’t remember the exact time for the Shibuya photos, but it was around sunset time – maybe about 7ish (in early Aug).
